So You Think You Love Yeshua & YHVH, Let's See

So You Think You Love Yeshua & YHVH…

We talk about the love of Yeshua (Jesus), but do we really know what the love of Yeshua is?  Yeshua himself tells us:  15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15).

Remember those arm wristbands that said “What would Jesus do?  WWJD?  Well Yeshua tells us clearly and plainly how to express our love for Him and the Father…

21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Yeshua answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.  (John 14:21-24)

The love of Yeshua and the Father is supposed to dwell/live in us, and according to Yeshua, it can only dwell, live and abide in us if we keep the Father’s commandments (plural).

9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.  (John 15:9-14)

Yeshua gave the definition of love to His disciples and us leading up to His impending crucifixion.  For us to remain in His love, Yeshua tells us to keep the Father’s commandments.  Note that the word commandments is plural, not singular – denoting more than one commandment.

The Father’s commandments were given to us in the beginning.  The first beginning was when YHVH gave His commandment to Adam .  The commandment then was a call to obedience in His instructions to Adam not to eat of that one tree in the Garden of Eden.  Adam’s sin of disobedience, led to his being separated from the Father, ELOHIM, in addition to every descendant of Adam & Eve, which is all of mankind.  Adam and Eve grieved and sorrowed greatly for this sin.   Yet, YHVH’s merciful love was  demonstrated to us by His giving His only son Yeshua for the sole purpose of redeeming us from the corruption of sin that entered into His original creation that we would have another chance to “be holy as He is holy.”

In His instructions to the disciples, Yeshua added one commandment that we” love one another,” as He was about to demonstrate by the laying down of His life for our behalf as the manifestation of love (see John 15:12-14).

So when we share about Yeshua and YHVH being love, we should know that love carries the requirement of obeying YHVH’s commandments (all of them).  Do we love Him enough to study, learn and apply the Father’s commandments to our lives, just as Yeshua did?  If not, you may want to think twice before you talk about how much you love the LORD.

I may speak in the tongues of men, even angels;
but if I lack love, I have become merely
blaring brass or a cymbal clanging.

2 I may have the gift of prophecy,
I may fathom all mysteries, know all things,
have all faith — enough to move mountains;
but if I lack love, I am nothing.

3 I may give away everything that I own,
I may even hand over my body to be burned;
but if I lack love, I gain nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:1-3)

There is no true love of Yeshua or YHVH apart from obedience to the commandments left on record for us in His word.   Our obedience to YHVH’s commandments will keep us from becoming like the irritating noise of a “blaring brass or a cymbal clanging;” a side-show freak of faith that has the ability to trust, but not willing to trust YHVH and Yeshua enough to obey; and lastly give away everything for show, but be left completely spiritually bankrupt because of disobedience and exposing the perversion of who we really are and are not.

True love obeys and bears righteous fruit when its branches are pruned.  False love is self-seeking , breeds unrighteousness, hurts and maims others; and its branches are good dry and withered and only good for firewood.

Truth or Consequences:  And just how to do we respond to YHVH’s love?  Obedience or disobedience to His commandments?  We should be cautious of taking His mercy and name in vain…He will not strive with us always.

8 Adonai is merciful and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in grace.
9 He will not always accuse,

He will not keep his anger forever.
10 He has not treated us as our sins deserve
or paid us back for our offenses,
11 because his mercy toward those who fear him
is as far above earth as heaven.
12 He has removed our sins from us
as far as the east is from the west.

13 Just as a father has compassion on his children,
Adonai has compassion on those who fear Him.

14 For He understands how we are made,

He remembers that we are dust.
15 Yes, a human being’s days are like grass,
he sprouts like a flower in the countryside —
16 but when the wind sweeps over, it’s gone;
and its place knows it no more.
17 But the mercy of Adonai on those who fear Him
is from eternity past to eternity future,
and His righteousness extends
to his children’s children,
18 provided they keep His covenant
and remember to follow His precepts.
(Psalm 103:8-18)

Let us pray diligently for one another – be willing to deal with the areas of rebellion in our lives first, and then we’ll know and see clearly how to help others around us.

Secret Identity of the Wicked

Who Are the Wicked?
by py thomas
© August 28, 2013

To know what YHWH requires and not do it, is what wickedness is. Whenever you see the reference in the Word to wicked, it is not referring to those who don't know YHVH or Yeshua (Jesus) , but is referring to  those who do know Him (in covenant relationship with Him) and still don't obey. That's who the YHVH is referring to...it is His people that need to humble themselves, confess their sins, turn from their wicked ways, then YHVH who is in Heaven, will hear us (the repentant) and heal our land.  Or alternatively, we can make the choice to be cut off, as stated in the following passage of Scripture.
Let our hearts be grieved to the point of change and return to the Lord ADONAI we claim to love, but won't obey. HE is worthy and has been so good to us. Yeshua died and was resurrected for us. Let us die to self and be resurrected in the newness of life He offers us.

Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright;
For the future of that man is peace.
 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together;

The future of the wicked shall be cut off.

But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
He is their strength in the time of trouble.
 And the Lord shall help them and deliver them;

He shall deliver them from the wicked,
And save them,
Because they trust in Him. (Psalm 37:37-40)

Entertained or Changed

To Be, or Not to Exist - Entertained or Changed?
by py thomas
© August 27, 2013

A friend of mine who is a young mother of two grade school boys posted her concern on Facebook about Miley Cyrus  and her recent Music Video Award performance.  They were grieved because she was a former Disney child star.  Imagine that, Ms. Cyrus  a former child star from the Disney Corportaion changing in such an adverse way.

Really?  Since when did Disney become the author and finisher of our faith?  Since when did the Disney Corporation set the standards for godly living?  Quite the contraire, they like so many others, including parents have contributed to setting the standards for ungodliness.

The body of Yeshua like the world wants to be entertained and not changed.  Many of the sons and daughters of the covenant know more about the latest movies, television shows, fashions, celebrity gossip, money, and sporting events than they do about their own salvation, consecration, regeneration and sanctification.  The only characteristics of YHWH they want to focus on is that He is love, He blesses, but do not want to hear that He also is the righteous judge, and will be the God of wrath on the sons and daughters of disobedience.

If you ask the average Saint about sin, they will pick and choose what is sin, and even rationalize why they do certain sins.  They love to say, “God knows my heart.”  And that’s true, He does.  He said that our hearts our desperately wicked.  Thus, our need for salvation.  When asked about righteous and godly living, many are quick to say, “it doesn’t take all of that…Jesus did it all…”  and on and on it goes.

How many of the Saints truly avail themselves on a daily basis to study YHWH’s word and earnestly seek HIM to search them out and be examined in all areas of their lives that have not been brought under the subjection of His authority?

Well when we are more interested in being entertained versus changed by the Word of YHWH, we have what we deserve…Miley Cyrus, the pornography industry, the vile rock and rap music, a corrupt legal system and corrupt elected officials, drugs, drunkenness, parents who say they love their children but refuse to correct and discipline them in accordance to YHWH’s word, husband and wives who do not submit to the LORD, let alone each other;  the countless murder of innocent lives (born and unborn); and the refusal to call sin “sin,” but instead slap a label on it and call it a disease and mental illness (and in many cases its demonic possession).

Well we should not be surprised, as this world is under the sway of the Adversary Satan and unless one decides to break free from the bondage of sin we have through Yeshua the Messiah, we have what we now have.  The Apostle Paul under the influence of the Holy Spirit said it best in his letter to Timothy:

Moreover, understand this: in the acharit-hayamim [perilous times] will come trying times. 2 People will be self-loving, money-loving, proud, arrogant, insulting, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, uncontrolled, brutal, hateful of good, 4 traitorous, headstrong, swollen with conceit, loving pleasure rather than God, 5 as they retain the outer form of religion but deny its power.

Stay away from these people! 6 For some of them worm their way into homes and get control of weak-willed women who are heaped with sins and swayed by various impulses, 7 who are always learning but never able to come to full knowledge of the truth. 8 In the same way as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moshe [Moses], so also these people oppose the truth. They are people with corrupted minds, whose trust cannot pass the test. 9 However, they won’t get very far; because everyone will see how stupid they are, just as happened with those two.

10 But you, you have closely followed my teaching, conduct, purpose in life, trust, steadfastness, love and perseverance — 11 as well as the persecutions and sufferings that came my way in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 And indeed, all who want to live a godly life united with the Messiah Yeshua will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived themselves.

14 But you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, recalling the people from whom you learned it; 15 and recalling too how from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can give you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; 17 thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3)

While we have opted to be under the delusion of being entertained instead of changed by the renewing of our minds by YHWH’s Word through the influence of the Holy Spirit, we will face His judgment:

8 Now go, write it before them on a tablet,
And note it on a scroll,
That it may be for time to come,
Forever and ever:
9 That this is a rebellious people,
Lying children,
Children who will not hear the law of the Lord;
10 Who say to the seers, “Do not see,”
And to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things;
Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.
11 Get out of the way,
Turn aside from the path,
Cause the Holy One of Israel
To cease from before us.”

12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel:

“Because you despise this word,
And trust in oppression and perversity,
And rely on them,
13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you
Like a breach ready to fall,
A bulge in a high wall,
Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant.
14 And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel,
Which is broken in pieces;
He shall not spare.
So there shall not be found among its fragments
A shard to take fire from the hearth,
Or to take water from the cistern.” (Isaiah 30:1-14)

But because YHWH is merciful, long-suffering and patient with us, while we have breath in our bodies, we have a chance to turn from our wicked ways.  Lord YHWH, help us all, including me.

I pray that those who have an ear to hear and eyes to see, answer YHWH’s call to repentance; and truly return to Him – acknowledging Him in ALL of our ways.

His maidservant, py thomas

The Crucifixion Crowds

What Left When You Entered In
by py thomas

 Ki Tavo (When You Enter)
Torah Portion:  Deuteronomy 26:1–29:8; Haftarah Ki Tavo: Yesha‘yahu (Isaiah) 60:1–22.  B’rit Hadashah [New Covenant] suggested readings for Parashah Ki Tavo: Luke 23:26–56; Mattityahu (Matthew) 13:1–23; Luke 21:1–4; Acts 28:17–31; Romans 11:1–15
Of all the agreements we enter into in life, the covenant of salvation is the greatest. But has it become great enough to us to be a priority to study and apply? YHVH’s Word is our life line; and when disconnected from it, we will soon expire spiritually and physically.

When you enter into YHWH’s covenant of salvation, you’re also entering into His promises.  A covenant is like a contract in that in order for it to remain valid both parties must perform in accordance to the terms and conditions stipulated and agreed to by all parties.

The impact of YHVH’s covenant has a far reaching impact on us, whether for blessings or curses.  The covenant’s terms and conditions (laws and commandments) extend to our future generations.  We see this from the beginning with Adam & Eve.  Their actions affected all of their descendants – we all inherited their sin nature.  Likewise, when we enter into a covenant relationship with YHVH, our seed is in position to be blessed if they choose to follow Yeshua’s example of obedience, since we too are now heirs together with Yeshua.

Can we afford to be casual in our attitudes about the covenant of salvation we have entered into – taking it lightly?  We learn from Deuteronomy 28 the consequences about our choices – blessings or curses, life or death.
The B’rit Hadashah (new covenant) Torah portion for the week of August 24, 2013 includes Luke 23:26-56.  It is significant, especially as we approach the Hebrew New Year -  a new beginning, a time of personal reflection and consideration of this covenant of salvation we’ve been offered and subsequently entered into.

Have we considered the significance of those that YHVH saw fit to be there to witness this historic and literally life-changing and life-giving event that occurred to all of mankind?  Luke 23:26-56 tells us that there was a group 10 different people at the crucifixion of Yeshua:  Roman soldiers; Simon the Cyrenian; a great multitude of people; the mourning and weeping women for Jerusalem, two criminals; the religious rulers of the Hebrew people (the Pharisees, the Sanhedrin council); the Centurion; Yeshua’s His acquaintances, and the women who followed Him from Galilee (including the disciple that Yeshua loved (their name is unknown to us), Yeshua’s mother Mary, Mary Magdalene, Salome), and Joseph of Arimathea.  Of interesting note, is that 10 is YHVH’s number of judgment, wisdom calls us to take note and consider these 10 groups.
The account of how YHVH established our covenant of salvation through Yeshua will testify for us, or against us, depending on the choice we make.

The 10 Groups Who Were There - Points of Consideration:

1.       Roman Soldiers.  They were the arresting authority and military might.  It was prophesized that they would be there casting lots for Yeshua’s garments.  But in all their military might they could not and did not stop the plan and purposes of YHVH.  Yeshua laid down His life freely, and YHVH raised Him from the dead, conquering death and setting us, the captives free from the bondage of sin.  Even though we see in Scripture that their role in Yeshua’s arrest and subsequent torture appears to be horrendous, but it was part of the price that needed to be paid for OUR sin, and Yeshua was willing to bear that burden for our sakes.  YHVH will use those situations and people who torment us, so that He can manifest His deliverance in and through us.

2.       The Religious Leaders – The Pharisees.  The Pharisees had long plotted to kill Yeshua.  In all their wrangling, false accusations and lies they thought they finally were going to rid themselves of Yeshua.  However, because of their wickedness they were blinded in darkness and were unable to see that they were only orchestrating what YHVH had intended from the beginning – that Yeshua would be sent to the world to live, die and be resurrected to defeat death and sin once and for all, for those that would believe.

In all their plotting they were blind to the truth) that YHVH so loved the world that  He “originally” created before sin “entered in”  and corrupted it, that He gave His only begotten Son Yeshua the Messiah, so that whoever believed and put their trust and faith in Him to be delivered from the bondage of sin, and to become holy as He is holy, that they would not perish, but have eternal life in the new heavens and Earth that is promised to come, just as Yeshua is promised to come back for those of us who have “entered in” to the covenant of salvation.

3.       Simon a Cyrenian.  Even though Yeshua is YHVH’s Son, while on the earth He lived as a man – the son of man.  Therefore His flesh became weak and felt pain just as ours does.  It was in His humanness that we see Scripture fulfilled by Simon.  In the literal context Yeshua’s natural body was weak due to the severe beating He had received at the hands of the Roman soldiers and was physically unable to continue to carry the stake that He was to be crucified on.  Simon was compelled to help carry the stake.  He did not refuse, but did so, fulfilling the Law’s true meaning that Yeshua upholds (see John 15, 16).

As background, Simon’s home town, Cyrene, Libya, was located in northern Africa.  Cyrene, a Greek colony, also had a Jewish community where 100,000 Judean Jews had settled during the reign of Ptolemy Soter (323-285 BC) and was an early center for Christianity.  The Cyrenian Jews had a synagogue in Jerusalem, where many went for annual feasts.  Since  this was the season of Passover, there was a high probability that that Simon was indeed a Jew and was coming from the country to most likely observe Passover.

The Romans thought of themselves as superior over the Hebrews / Jews, further lending itself to confirm that Simon was most likely a Jew.  Remember, the Roman leader, Pilate didn’t want to deal with Yeshua, but wanted the Pharisees to deal with Him, because He was one on their own – being Jewish.  Therefore, it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that the Romans would have compelled/forced another Roman citizen to take on the burden of carrying the stake of crucifixion for a condemned Jew.  Thus their selection of Simon, a fellow Jew and believer of the Law.  Simon literally became a “partaker in the sufferings of Messiah,” literally bearing the stake of suffering for Yeshua the Messiah.

“Bear one another’s burdens — in this way you will be fulfilling the Torah’s true meaning, which the Messiah upholds.”  (Galatians 6:2)

12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Messiah’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you are reproached for the name of Messiah, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. 16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now

“If the righteous one is scarcely saved,
Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator. (1 Peter 4:12-19)

4.       A Great Multitude of People.  Yeshua’s death and resurrection was and is the most notable event in the history of creation.  It is no small wonder that there were to witnesses to  both events.

Leading up to Yeshua’s crucifixion we learn from Matthew 20:10-19, that He taught a parable to His 12 disciples  about those who are last, will be those who are first; how many being called, but only a few are chosen; and the decision as to who does the selection is up to our Master and God, ELOHIM.  This was also the third time He spoke of His impending crucifixion to the 12 disciples.

In this great multitude of people there were just as many personal and corporate “hidden” agendas going on in the background.   Some of the people did not know what to expect, but were curious.  Others were on the side with the religious leaders who wanted to see Yeshua killed.  Some were there because they had heard about Yeshua but had not yet made a decision about who they felt He was one way or the other.  This multitude of people was a reflection and representation of all mindsets regarding Yeshua then, now and in the future, whether good, bad or indifferent.

Today we still have a great multitude observing Yeshua, some wanting His life, death and resurrection to be rendered as a lie as though it never happened because of their refusal to acknowledge that they are sinners in need of redemption; some who want to know if this event is true; and others who have created and sought their own gods instead of the true and living God, ELOHIM to accommodate their sin-nature.

Just as we were once on the outside, it was through YHVH’s mercy and divine influence (grace) that we heard and saw the truth of the covenant of salvation and our need for forgiveness of sin; surrendered our hearts; and “entered in” to the covenant of salvation.

“Many are called, but few are chosen.”  So who are you in the great multitude of people on the earth – which group or category do you fit?  Did you truly “enter in” to the covenant of salvation?  Have you become those who are now last, but will be called to be first throughout eternity, or do you want it all now?  Are you truly in the place to allow yourself to be prepared?  These are all important questions that call us to the place that the criminals who were crucified along with Yeshua had to consider.  Selah.

5.       Mourning and Weeping Women – These women had misplaced mourning.  They were mourning because Yeshua was going to be crucified and did not understand the significance of His crucifixion.  We see in Luke 23:27-31, Yeshua telling them not to grieve for Him, but to grieve for themselves and their children because of the judgment still yet to come prophesized in  Hosea  10:8 about  YHVH’s coming judgment for Isra’el’s continued rebellion and wickedness.  Not only will Isra’el be facing this judgment, but all who reject Yeshua.

We need to seriously consider the requirements of YHVH’s covenant when we “enter into” it.
In His covenant there are blessings for obedience, curses for disobedience; and forgiveness of sin through Yeshua.  Which ones will you choose?

Yeshua’s life, death and resurrection calls each of us to consider our ways and choices in the light of YHVH’s Word,  His covenant of salvation, laws, commandments, statutes, and precepts.  It may seem like a lot, but it’s simply a matter of our agreeing with what YHVH says and what He will do, or alternatively, choosing to go in our own way and be willing to face the consequences of that choice.  Forgiveness or unforgiveness of sin?  Life or death?   Which do you choose to enter into?

6.       The Centurion who witnessed the crucifixion glorified and praised YHVH.  He was the only one on record who praised YHWH at Yeshua’s crucifixion noting that Yeshua was innocent, but glorified YHVH during that moment in mankind’s history, which would be game changer for all of eternity.  It was also a foreshadowing of the gospel message being brought to the Gentiles – that they too could have the opportunity to be saved.   On the surface one would think that this was a strange response given what was going on.   Only one familiar with the prophecies about Yeshua  and exposure to the Word could understand and appreciate the necessity and divine plan of YHVH for our salvation.  He apparently had heard and seen the favor that YHVH extended to those in covenant with Him.  Just as Rahab the harlot had, Balaam did, nations, and others.  The testimonies of YHVH always has witnesses.

47 When the Roman officer saw what had happened, he began to praise God and said, “Surely this man was innocent!” (Luke 23:47-49)

7.       Followers/Disciples & Acquaintances of Yeshua.  49 All His friends, including the women who had accompanied him from the Galil, had been standing at a distance; they saw it all. (Luke 23:49)

Yeshua’s disciples standing at a distance during His crucifixion is somewhat symbolic of their initial reaction when Yeshua initially told them that He was going away.  They sorrowed then in their hearts and did not want to believe that He was leaving because they did not want Him to go and tried to distance themselves from those thoughts.  Yeshua spoke to them 3 times about His impending crucifixion.  Why 3 times?  Because they did not want to receive this truth.  We are the same way when we are faced with certain inevitabilities, and depending on where we are emotionally and spiritually, we find those instances painful and hurtful.  In some instances the pain and hurt stems from our unwillingness to embrace the truth of that reality.   Thus, we stand apart or at distance from it – not wanting to see nor believe.   Like the disciples, this is the point where our faith is being tested – can we believe YHVH in the midst of our own uncertainties?

However, YHVH in His mercy is long-suffering and patient with us.  Just as with the disciples, He has sent the Holy Spirit to help us and teach us all things – including how to believe YHVH even in the midst of uncertainty.  We should not lose sight of Yeshua’s instructions to the disciples at the last supper – the Passover meal given in John 16:20-22:

20 Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy. 21 A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. 22 Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. (John 16:20-22)

8.       The Criminals.  One of the criminals to be crucified along with Yeshua had a life changing experience happen to him because he was willing to be honest about his sins and knowing that his death sentence was a fair sentence; and was in agreement with the righteousness of his impending consequences for the choices he had made to break the law.  He knew his judgment was fair and justice served, even at the expense of being put to death.

However, there was the other criminal on the other side of Yeshua sentenced to die, continued in the “way of lying,” and foolishly mocked Yeshua instead of coming clean about his crimes and admitting he had what was coming to him.  In all his years on the earth, and even to the bitter end, this one criminal refused to come clean – he remained steadfast in his rejection of truth and his belief in the lie.

The criminal who spoke to Yeshua in spirit and truth, resulted in his receiving forgiveness of sin and the promise that he would be with Yeshua in Paradise.  This principle applies to us as well, and is a great example of how when we experience conviction (godly sorrow) about our sin, we will then come to the place of ending/stopping that sin once and for all (repentance).

Even at the point of Yeshua yielding up His own life for us, He considered this one hanging on a stake next to Him who spoke to Him in spirit and truth and “entered in” to receive forgiveness and the promise of eternal life.

39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Messiah, save Yourself and us.”

40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”

43 And Yeshua said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:39-43)

9.       The Chest Beaters.  During the Passover meal with His disciples, Yeshua  told them, 20 Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.” (John 16:20).

Those that beat their chests at seeing Yeshua crucified did it with gladness thinking they had finally gotten rid of Yeshua, the one who came and convicted them of their sin because He fulfilled the Law.  Rendering them without excuses for their corrupt and rebellious lives.

At the moment of the crucifixion when the sky darkened and the earth shook, there was no beating of their chests.  It was not until they turned and left the place of rebellion that they had the boldness to revel in their wickedness – under  a false sense of security, thinking that Yeshua would be no more.   Sin bullies and masks the true cowardice of its of those it uses.   Sin always operates in secret and darkness.  Selah.

48 And when all the crowds that had gathered to watch the spectacle saw the things that had occurred, they returned home beating their breasts. (Luke 23:48)

10.   Yosef  of Arimethia.  Yosef provided the proper burial for Yeshua.  It is illustrative of the proper burial of our sin nature once we “enter into” the covenant of salvation.

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. (Isaiah 1:18)

Our sins were scarlet, but through Yeshua we are made white as snow when we “enter into” the covenant of salvation.  The eternal life we have to look forward to includes our spirit-man being housed in the incorruptible glorified bodies; and we’ll no longer be housed in these earthly vessels of corrupted sinful flesh.

Yosef’s actions were symbolic of our sin nature being put to death by being wrapped in the righteousness of Yeshua, putting sin to death, and our being renewed, transformed and conformed into the image/pattern of Yeshua.

Yosef took Yeshua’s body and wrapped the sinful flesh that Yeshua was willing to take on when He came to the earth for the sake of being the sacrificial lamb to die for our sins that we might be forgiven by YHVH.  When Yosef wrapped Yeshua’s body in a cloth, it wasn’t just any cloth.  In keeping with the ordinances YHVH gave for the royal priesthood, Yosef wrapped Yeshua in a linen cloth never used before.

We could not see what was going on inside the tomb after Yosef laid Yeshua’s body in there and it was sealed.  Just as we don’t know how YHVH performs the miraculous inside of us – it is hidden;  and all we see is the end result – YHVH’s promises manifested.  We were once dead in sin, but He makes us alive in Yeshua.  How unsearchable are YHVH’s ways, they are truly past our finding out.

What’s going on behind the tomb of your sinful nature being put to death?  Have you left the tomb and have ceased to allow the work of the Holy Spirit to continue?  Or are you still there, allowing the miraculous work of redemption, sanctification, and consecration be manifested?  It is in the tomb of putting our sinful nature to death in the place where no one can see until YHVH allows the stones of our tomb to be rolled away and we then emerge a new person in Messiah.  Forgiven, washed from the stain of sin, and ultimately restored back to YHVH’s original created purpose.  This is what glorifies YHVH – the testimony of our redemption.

The Lesson Learned.  When we “enter in,” we must enter in spirit and truth and not in the way of lying by deceiving ourselves about the corrupt condition we’re in because of sin.  Are you allowing the process of dying to self (daily) to occur?   How will you “enter in” to the New Year that is knocking at the door?

On  a personal note, can we rejoice and praise YHWH in what seems to be a horrific event?  Do we really believe that all things work together for good for those who love YHWH and are the called according to His purposes?  If not, are we willing to be honest to examine self before the LORD to find out why?

Are we ready to face Psalm 119:29, “Remove from me the way of lying, And grant me Your Law graciously.”  What a wonder to have our minds, hearts and spirits transformed to the point to where we allow YHVH’s divine influence to direct our thoughts and actions in alignment with His laws and commandments.  If it’s truly about Him as we like to often quote, are we truly interested in being conformed and changed into the pattern of Yeshua once we have "entered in? Conformed or Deformed?

And Who Have We Become – Conformed or Deformed?

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. 11 Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” 12 And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council. 13 They also set up false witnesses who said, “This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the Law; 14 for we have heard him say that this Yeshua of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.” 15 And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel. (Acts 6:8-15)
51 You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. 52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One[Yeshua], of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, 53 who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it. (Acts 7:51-55)
·         YHVH hates false witnesses, as it was false witnesses that condemned Yeshua to death.
16 These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17 A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,

18 A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies,

And one who sows discord among brethren. (Proverbs 6:16-19)
·         A false witness opposes truth.
A faithful witness does not lie,
But a false witness will utter lies.
6 A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it,
But knowledge is easy to him who understands. (Proverbs 14:5-6)
·         Stephen who was a Believer/Christian confronted the church leaders of his day (the Pharisees) about their failure to keep the Law.  Note, Stephen was “full of faith and power” (Acts 6:8), and therefore was not speaking out of his own resources.  The Holy Spirit was testifying against the Pharisees for not keeping the Law.  How much more so are we accountable for obeying the Law, especially since through Yeshua we now have the power and might to choose to say no to the sin of lawlessness and rebellion?
·         Because of their lies and the false witnesses they brought forward to falsely accuse Yeshua, Stephen under the influence of the Holy Spirit named them “betrayers and murderers…received the Law…and have not kept it.” (Acts:7:52-53)
Those in leadership that ignore truth and embrace that which is false are always able to persuade those who are like-minded in dishonest dealings to bring a false witness against those that practice and apply that which is true.  Even with this being true, we see from Yeshua’s example that no matter what He drew  a line in the sand and always sided with the Father for righteousness and truth.  This is the triumph over death that Yeshua accomplished for us.   The power of death (also being the power of sin), no longer has rule or dominion over us.  This is why Scripture states
50 Let me say this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot share in the Kingdom of God, nor can something that decays share in what does not decay. 51 Look, I will tell you a secret — not all of us will die! But we will all be changed! 52 It will take but a moment, the blink of an eye, at the final shofar. For the shofar will sound, and the dead will be raised to live forever, and we too will be changed. 53 For this material which can decay must be clothed with imperishability, this which is mortal must be clothed with immortality. 54 When what decays puts on imperishability and what is mortal puts on immortality, then this passage in the Tanakh will be fulfilled:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.[b]55 “Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?”[c]   56 The sting of death is sin; and sin draws its power from the Torah; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Yeshua the Messiah! (1 Corinthians 15:50-57)

Footnotes:
[ a] 1 Corinthians 15:54 Isaiah 25:8
[b] 1 Corinthians 15:55 Hosea 13:14

Sin draws it power from the Law, because the Law testifies against us, as we’re all guilty of not keeping some portion of the Law.  Therefore, the proper righteous response to YHVH’s mercy demonstrated by His forgiveness He extends to us would be our willingness to give YHVH tremendous thanksgiving, glory, praise and honor for the victory He has given us through our Lord Yeshua HaMashiach!
We should never grow tired or weary of recalling how good, merciful and gracious YHVH has been to us.  However, if we find ourselves in this place, let it be a warning of note that we have not been as diligent as we ought to in the pursuit of being conformed into the image of Yeshua, nor by having our minds renewed and transformed daily.  It is to our benefit that we do surrender to be conformed and our minds transformed, as the Word states,
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed [focused and trained] on You,
Because he trusts in You. (Isaiah 26:3)
We are given a commandment (not a suggestion) against false witness (see Exodus 20:16)
And who have we become?  With the New Year fast-approaching and those in covenant with YHVH being called into a season of introspection,  Acts 7:51-55 provides us with a snapshot picture of the history of those YHVH chose to be in covenant with Him.  We learn from Scripture that YHVH did not choose the Hebrew people because there was something noteworthy about them to choose.  As a matter of fact, it was quite the contrary, they were:
1)      Steeped in their carnal sinful nature and sinfully stubborn
2)      Determined  in their pursuit of sinful of rebellion against Adonai
3)      So entrenched in their rebellion that the spirit of the anti-Messiah was their primary  influence instead of the Holy Spirit
4)      In the mindset which opposed and hated YHVH’s appointed prophets because they spoke truth
5)      So under the influence of the Adversary and their sinful flesh, that they resisted and hated truth to the point of wanting to completely silence truth by murdering those who spoke truth;  and
6)      Committed to continue in a lawless lifestyle, desiring to live apart from the laws and commandments of YHVH and instead do and live like the pagans around them lived - worshipping false gods and indulging their sinful flesh continually.
Part 2:  The Indictment  - The Road to Conviction that Leads to the Path of Forgiveness & Victory
If one didn’t know any better, they would think that Acts 7:51-55 described the modern day Saints for the most part.  Plus, just as those before us, many of those in the covenant of salvation don’t want to be corrected, and worship  everything but the true and living GOD.  This unfortunately is quite evident when we see that many are more knowledgeable about the world and worldly things than their knowledge and application of the Word of YHVH.   Sadly many worship people (celebrities, pastors/preachers/teachers and relationships); material possessions, money, status and success, and more.   They have no understanding of what sin is and why sin is such an offense to Elohim.  Many don’t even understand what salvation truly means, let alone being set apart and living consecrated lives to YAH.
Game Changers.  There are those who don’t know what Yeshua’s death and resurrection means and how it is to be manifested and applied in their lives; and worst yet, don’t want to know.   Their love of self and sinful flesh is their true god as long as they remain in a willful state of unrepentance – backslidden and in bondage.  We all are struggling with our old sinful natures, however, the game changer and difference is those who have decided not to do anything about it, versus those who have decided to do something about their sin nature and are in active pursuit of learning about the Word of YHVH and applying it to their lives.
Whenever we are unwillingly to face the truth about ourselves (and others), it is because we are unwillingly to face the truth about the Word of YHVH first.  We truly have no knowledge and understanding of truth apart from entering into the covenant of salvation through Yeshua.
6 Yeshua said, “I AM the Way — and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
If we reject Yeshua, we truly are rejecting YHVH – the two are inseparable.   If we reject the Holy Spirit, we have rejected both Yeshua and YHVH; and that is the unpardonable sin.  For in rejecting the Holy Spirit, that person has rejected all 3, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  They have rejected truth and have believed the lie.  They have decided to believe that there is no sin, and they have no need of salvation.  They have chosen eternal death instead of eternal life – how unfortunate and sad for them, in that they have made their decision and will face the consequence of that decision.   Selah.
Yeshua stated,
28 Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation (Mark 3:28)
Blaspheme:  Defined in the Noah Websters 1828 Dicitionary - To arrogate the prerogatives of God.  Arrogate - To assume, demand or challenge more than is proper; to make undue claims, from vanity or false pretensions to right or merit.  Prerogatives - An exclusive or peculiar privilege.  The right of governing created beings is the prerogative of the Creator.
35 For whoever does the will of God is My [Yeshua’s] brother and My [Yeshua’s] sister and mother. (Mark 3: 35)
And who have we become?  The “we” that this question refers s to, are those who have entered into covenant relationship with YHVH through Yeshua’s shed blood.    Where is our power, our authority, and the testimonies of YHVH in our lives?  Many have become dead branches, withered up and are no longer good for anything except firewood.  In their rejection to submit to the lordship and authority of YHVH, they have become the opposite of those who have actually believed, evidenced by their surrender and willingness to apply the Word of truth to their hearts and spirit.
“Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1)
The call to holiness is a call to surrender and obedience so that we might be transformed into YHVH’s original created purpose with minds that are renewed to hate sin as YHVH hates sin; to once again reflect the image of the Father YHVH and the Son Yeshua as it was in the beginning before sin entered in through the serpent in the Garden of Eden.  These are the testimonies of YAH – a people that would testify to the deity, sovereignty, and majesty of Elohim, our Creator and Righteous Judge; the testimony of being delivered and our sin-sick souls healed by the shed blood of Yeshua.  Who is awesome, but Yehovah!  Who is Adonai of Tzavot?  It is the LORD who will fight all of our battles when we get out of the way!
Just who are we and what have we become, we the sons and daughters of the covenant of salvation?  If you’re breathing and have gone astray, you can return to YHVH (GOD).
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.  (1 John 1:8-10)
