Deuteronomy 8:17-1817you then shall say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand have made for me this wealth!’ 18“But you shall remember your Elohim, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, in order to establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is today.”

·         V. 17 & 18 Power  (3581) – Hebrew word “kowach” (ko-akh) from an unused root mean. to be firm; vigor,  lit. (force in a good or bad sense) or fig. (capacity, means, produce)

·         V. 17 & 18 Wealth (2428) – Hebrew word “chayil” (khah’-yil) from 2482; prob. a force, whether of men, means or other resources; an army, wealth, virtue, valor, strength

o   2482a trinket (as polished): jewel or an ornament…(emphasis mine:  lending to Chayil being more on a material substance than a personality trait based on the context of the rest of the scripture)

Note:
Material wealth is considered nothing more than a polished trinket…and the carnal unrepentant man worships “polished trinkets (i.e. people (in particular celebrities, athletes, millionaire/billionaires), cars, jobs, money, status, self, sports, )

·         Establish (6965) – Hebrew word “quwm” (koom); a prim. root; to rise (in various applications, lit., fig., intens. and caus.: abide, accomplish, X be clearer, confirm, continue, decree, X be dim, endure, X enemy, enjoin, get up, make good, help, hold, (help to) lift up (again), make, X but newly, ordain, perform, pitch, raise (up), rear (up), remain, (a-) rise (up), make good,

Who is Being Qualified

1.       YaH is speaking to Yisra’el…not those on the outside.  His covenant is between those HE commands to keep His Torah – His chosen people

2.       YaH is literally giving Yisra’el a reality check, lest they think more highly of themselves as they ought.

The word wealth is the Hebrew word, “chayil” (2428 from 2482; khah’-yil), which literally refers to “polished trinkets.”  Material wealth is considered nothing more than a polished trinket…and does not the carnal unrepentant man worship “polished trinkets (i.e. people (in particular celebrities, athletes, millionaire/billionaires), cars, jobs, money, food, drugs, alcohol, hobbies, status, self, sports, etc.))?

Emphasis Mine:  this lends to the use of Chayil referring more to a material substance than a personality trait based on the context of the rest of the scripture, even though this word has multiple meanings referring  (i.e.  means or other resources; an army, wealth, virtue, valor, strength).  The other characteristics listed deal with the wealth developed through keeping Torah.

The greatest riches/resource we have is YaH’s written word (as we allow it to be written on our hearts to convert them from stoney hearts to hearts of purified flesh); and His Word that became flesh and dwelt among us that we might be set-apart as it was from the beginning, so we could be restored to YaH’s original created purpose for us – to give HIM glory and point to HIM as Sovereign Creator and righteous Judge.

There is no need to warn us about the character traits, because they are traits that should reflect Y’shua in us.  However, the “polished trinkets” have their place, but are not suppose to “have us.”

3.       …What man puts great importance on, YaH considers mere “trinkets” polished up.   (think about it, trinkets need to be polished to even have any value…so let us be careful about chasing that which rusts and deteriorates…storing up in Heaven the true and everlasting treasures).   Having the proper perspective as to what these “mere trinkets” resources are meant to do, and why YaH would give us power to obtain them is true freedom.

How can we know and embrace our future if we don't know or understand our beginning and the Creator, YHVH through His Son, Y'shua. learn well people...your lives literally depend upon it. Otherwise, your wealth is tumultuous and will bring chaos, confusion and rob one of their peace.

You don't have to perish for lack of knowledge...you can make a choice to do something about it...make your choices well...and wear truth and YaH's wisdom around your necks like fine adornments that spring forth from your heart and mind into the lives of others in His love. Shalom
